Founding Director


Prof.Dr. Selçuk Çolakoğlu

Dr. Selçuk Çolakoğlu received his BA from the Department of International Relations at Ankara University, obtained his MA from the Department of International Relations at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, and completed his PhD in the Department of International Relations at Ankara University. He worked as a foreign professor of the Department of Turkish Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Seoul, South Korea (1999-2001). He became an associate professor of international relations in 2008 in Turkey. He served as the Vice Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in Nazilli (2006-2007), the Chair of Department of International Relations (2008-2012) and the Director of Graduate School of Social Sciences (2011-2012) at Adnan Menderes University in Aydın, Turkey. He became a professor of international relations at Yıldırım Beyazıt University in Ankara in 2013. Dr. Çolakoğlu was a visiting research fellow at the Korea Foundation in Seoul in 2007, The Near East and South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Research at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. in 2013, and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) in Sejong, in 2015. He was an advisor for the Center for Strategic Research (SAM) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey (2011-2013) and Vice-President of the International Strategic Research Organization (USAK) (2013-2016) in Ankara, Turkey. Dr. Çolakoğlu is also Founding Director of the Turkish Center for Asia-Pacific Studies (APAC) in Ankara, Turkey. He currently is a faculty member of the Globalisation and Development Programme at Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) in Zhuhai, China.
